The Opportunity:
This position provides leadership for Innovation across all major Velera product lines. Incumbent will work with Client Facing Teams, Credit Unions, ITS and Product owners to develop and implement a corporate Innovation and Ideation methodology. Incumbent will lead assessments of new product ideas, develop business cases and lead prototype creation to reach formal business recommendation on new opportunities. Incumbent will drive discussions, design, and help develop products and services that align with Velera strategies.
Day in the Life:
- Develop and implement innovation and ideation processes that can be repeated and replicated on different payment platforms and various business domains to improve speed to market, revenue generation, and corporate support.
- Work with various sponsors on product research and ideation and the continuous improvement of existing products and features using market research, customer feedback, and financial analysis to launch financially viable new products that satisfy our customers’ needs and help them compete in their markets.
- Provide guidance and direction to product owners on developing new product visions and roadmaps.
- Work with stakeholders and product owners to capture, evaluate and prioritize ideas, requirements, and feasibility.
- Analyze approaches for delivering enterprise solutions for products by analyzing technology needs, strategic fit, and potential revenue.
- Develop the business recommendations and stories for new payment solutions.
- Create programs and industry requirements that foster innovation for payment solutions used in the credit union industry.
- Structure and present recommendation to senior leadership for approve internally and externally.
- Manage business process engineering to incorporate innovation ideas into Velera departments.
- Execute business development plans, and apply them to innovation of Velera products and services; seek potential ideas to grow business, even if they do not fit current business configurations.
- Demonstrated success creating & managing product briefs, & project budgets.
- Awareness of consumer trends, competition & process for evaluating project ROI.
- Strong, confident, compelling presenter with developed communication skills.
- Engaged collaborator, negotiator. Presentation skills a plus.
- Strong project management and budgeting skills.
- Team Management experience with diverse teams.
- Provide direction and leadership to staff; guide, coach, mentor and develop staff ensuring compliance with processes and procedures
- Handle interviewing, hiring, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, compensation, counseling and termination of staff
- Develop and maintain staff by applying the necessary training and leadership that will allow internal growth and advancement
- Direct staff, to ensure that all duties are performed according to department performance standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management/Administration, Finance, or related field required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Seven (7) years card/payments industry, and new product development, product innovation, or mobile technology experience required.
- Five (5) years of experience developing business plans and budgets required.
- Product training and product demonstration experience required.
- Three (3) years in a senior individual level or supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven strong project management skills, able to keep projects moving on target and on deadline.
- Proven experience driving thought leadership and brand innovation through public speaking, industry presentations, and internal advocacy initiatives.
- Proficient PC knowledge and the use of standard software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel approximately 25%
