Overview
Altera Education Services' mission is to provide world-class, innovative blended learning solutions for our customers, partners, and employees. Altera education Services works with functional teams across Altera to ensure education programs are aligned to and support Market, Product, Financial, and Organizational business objectives. The Instructional Designer's primary responsibility is to design training curricula for Altera applications for client and employee training needs. The Instructional Designer will work closely with other Education Services team members on key Education Services initiatives: product upgrade/releases, new product rollouts, and on-going new Education Services offerings/initiatives. The role will have the challenge of continuously envisioning new course offerings in alignment with business needs to maximize client value, develop a strong Altera Education Services brand, and to secure and increase the education revenue stream for Altera.
Responsibilities
- Follows and applies the principles of the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) Instructional Systems Design model.
- Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts and Global Team to develop/deliver training programs to support assigned product (e.g., instructor-led classroom-based or web-based training, eLearning, etc.)
- Identifies product experts within and regularly partners with Product Development, Sales, Solutions Marketing, the Program Office, as well as other key internal business partners/knowledge holders to identify training requirements/needs to support the assigned product
- Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts and Global Team to develop/deliver training programs to support assigned product (e.g., instructor-led classroom-based or web-based training, eLearning, etc.).
- Creates audience definitions and performs Task Analyses to identify Learning Objectives and write assessments for Education Services training programs, including new version releases, new product rollouts, on-going Education Services offerings/initiatives, and employee new hire and continuing education training programs.
- Performs Task Analysis to identify Learning Objectives for the assigned product.
- Creates and maintains the master set of Learning Objectives for an Altera application and/or employee training curriculum.
- Creates and maintains a master training curriculum for the assigned product.
- Conducts Performance and Training Needs Assessments to determine training requirements for Education Services Programs
- Identifies training requirements/needs to support the assigned product and create/maintain training build plans.
- Participates in Audience Analysis to research, document, evaluate, and design for the training needs/preferences of the target audience
- Creates Project Scope documents to be shared with/approved by Education Services Program Managers, Team Leads and Director.
- Creates course agendas (lesson plans), outlines, and writes course narratives for all forms of delivery: classroom, Web Classes, and self-paced eLearning.
- Provides instructional design guidance and coaching to Subject Matter Experts.
- Works closely with the Learning System Administrators and Instructional Technologists to ensure the course structures meet the design and deliver requirements/standards for Learning Systems & Tools (e.g., LMS, LCMS).
- Conducts and participates in design and content reviews with Education Services and cross-functional team members.
- Gathers, evaluates, and where appropriate, acts upon training participant feedback to enhance/improve current and future training offerings.
Qualifications
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
- 2-4 years relevant work experience
- Experience working with blended learning development, rapid development processes, and Learning Management System (LMS) administration.
- Experience managing instructional design projects in a global and matrix environment.
- Understands project tasks, timelines and due dates and possesses the ability to proactively identify issues and report issues that may cause project impacts.
