The start date of this position is August 31, 2026. Position Type: Staff Required Education: Successful completion of MCOLES recognized police firearms instructor training course. Required Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of law enforcement experience or relevant professional training and experience in firearms instruction. Required Licenses and Certifications: Certified Michigan or National Police Firearms Instructor (NRA) or FBI Firearms Instructor. Physical Demands:
Instruct students in firearms safety, handling and live fire on a firearms range for handguns, rifles and shotguns.
Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic, and life experiences.
