Job summary
We have an exciting new opportunity for a band 7 dietitian to lead our surgical dietetic team which provides dietetic care to a wide range of surgical patients across our 3 hospital sites. This includes input into our new elective surgery hub at Solihull hospital, where you will support the development of dietetic services peri-operatively with a focus on facilitating an early discharge from hospital.
The role will provide oversight to a range of surgical specialities, including colorectal, trauma and orthopaedics, vascular, urology and general surgery. You will be supported by our other specialist dietetic teams and the role will include cover for parenteral nutrition at Solihull hospital when required.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
You will be able to progress your clinical knowledge within the key surgical areas and act as a source of expertise for the wider department. Multidisciplinary team working will be essential, you will have a key role in promoting nutrition and raising the profile of dietetics across the Trust. Clinical work will be across a variety of settings, we are committed to flexible working and supporting your work life balance.
You will also have opportunity to develop your leadership skills, with responsibility for the day to day management of a small team of dietitians and dietetic assistants. The post will sit within our wider medical surgical team, a dynamic team which is continually striving for excellence.
We have a strong focus on quality improvement and service development, we look forward to working with you to develop dietetic provision within surgery. We are supportive of dietitians undertaking research and committed to your personal and career development. The department also has a strong focus on wellbeing and regular events to support this.
Therapies at Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals as part of UHB is committed to providing a 7-day therapy service with participation in bank holiday cover for dietetics.
The Trust is a multi-site organisation, therefore you may be required to work at any Trust site and you may need to change your normal place of work either temporarily or on a permanent basis as a result of development or re-organisation of Trust services.
