Job Description
We are seeking an accomplished Director of Engineering to lead our engineering organization in building a cutting-edge, high-performance AI data infrastructure. In this role, you will drive the design and optimization of connectors for leading open-source frameworks supporting data ingestion, transformation, and streaming at scale. Your expertise will ensure seamless integration with Trino, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Mosaic Streaming, Ray Data, and other industry-leading technologies.
This is a strategic leadership role where you will manage a team of top-tier engineers dedicated to developing an end-to-end storage platform that powers AI-driven applications. You will work closely with software developers, product teams, and industry partners to drive innovation, optimize performance, and shape the future of AI-ready data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a high-performing data engineering team to develop scalable, efficient, and reliable data ingestion and streaming solutions.
- Oversee the design and optimization of high-performance connectors for open-source frameworks, enabling seamless data flow.
- Architect and optimize an end-to-end storage platform that supports large-scale AI workloads across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Collaborate with software and product teams to integrate cutting-edge open-source tools for AI and analytics use cases.
- Drive innovation through experimentation and benchmarking of next-gen data engineering frameworks.
- Ensure system scalability, reliability, and performance while maintaining best practices in data governance, security, and compliance.
- Engage with open-source communities and industry partners to stay ahead of emerging trends and influence the roadmap.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering and distributed computing.
- Proven leadership experience managing and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Deep expertise in modern data frameworks such as Trino, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Mosaic Streaming, and Ray Data.
- Strong background in data ingestion, transformation, and streaming architectures for large-scale AI workloads.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and high-performance computing environments.
- Proficiency in distributed systems, parallel computing, and performance optimization for data-intensive applications.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and research teams.
- Experience with open-source software development and contribution is a plus.
This position requires participation in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.
