The 2100 Clinical Decision Unit is a fast-paced unit with a high patient turnover rate (less than 24 hours) located on the hospital’s cardiac telemetry floor. This unit treats major diagnoses, such as chest pain, syncope, and dizziness. As a Nurse Technician in this unit, you will assist with direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN.   
 

A caregiver in this position works varying shifts.  

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.    

  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to RN.  

  • Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean & orderly. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Nursing student in good standing in an accredited nursing school program OR unlicensed graduate of an accredited nursing school program 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

  • Maintain competencies specific to patient population served 

  • Satisfactorily complete hospital orientation 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff
