Definition and Role
The Clinical Educator/Trainer is an LPN who supports the Nursing Home Program by onboarding, training, and remediating staff in the positions of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Wound Medicine Technician (WMT), and Wound Medicine Assistant (WMA). This role ensures staff competency in wound care procedures, EMR use, and administrative workflows, while promoting MedCentris’ values, vision, and commitment to quality patient care.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
- Current licensure with the State Board of practical nurse examiners with no restrictions
- Minimum two to three years of experience working in a medical office or health care facility
- Membership in professional and or community organizations desirable
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively
- Demonstrates proven decision-making skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, wound care, strong clinical and interpersonal skills
- Networking experience within the medical industry beneficial
- Evidence of strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Computer skills
- Knowledge of communication processes and organization
- Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
- Must be able to travel possibly overnight four days per week
- CPR/BLS required
- Nursing Home Experience Preferred
Training & Education
- Provide onboarding and ongoing wound care and EMR education to Nursing Home Program staff.
- Implement training MedCentris staff to perform all duties outlined in the LPN, WMT, and WMA job descriptions.
- Travel up to 4 days per week to provide training, remediate existing staff, &/or educate the Nursing Home Staff.
- Deliver instruction on multitasking, care coordination, and teamwork principles.
- Maintain competency in all clinical and administrative duties taught.
Clinical Support
- Perform nursing procedures in direct patient care under the supervision of an MD/NP/PA.
- Demonstrate and instruct wound care techniques, EMR documentation, and patient care best practices.
Administrative Training
- Provide education on basic administrative tasks, including filing, copying, faxing, data entry, and document management.
- Train staff in appointment scheduling, care coordination, and communication with team members and facility staff.
Collaboration & Liaison
- Establish and maintain rapport with long-term care (LTC) facility leadership.
- Act as a liaison between LTC facilities and MedCentris staff to promote effective communication and problem resolution.
