Position Overview:

The Accounting department is the financial record keepers of the organization, covering payroll, tax and compliance, accounts payable and receivable, and the general ledger. The internship will allow the candidate to participate in all areas or focus on a core area they are interested in learning more about.
The Accounting Intern will provide support to the accounting department by assisting with day-to-day accounting operations within PBS. The position will assist with the month-end and year-end processes, prepare for the year-end audit, and perform various projects on an as needed basis. The position will provide hands-on experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger accounting.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

• Responsible for vendor and customer set-up 
• Assist the accounting department in completing month-end close and preparation of year-end statements
Assist with account reconciliation and analysis to ensure validity and integrity of the Balance Sheet

Assist in coordinate the preparation for the audit

Skills Intern Will Acquire 

Acquire hands-on experience working with accounting systems 
Acquire experience working in a fast-paced large non-profit setting
• Further develop accounting education and apply knowledge to real-life situations, especially in a nonprofit setting
Participate in full cycle accounting 
Participate in year-end close and audit preparation 

Requirements for success: 

• Comfortable using Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, etc. 
• Some accounting knowledge (working towards a degree in accounting or similar field) 
• Ability to understand and communicate basic accounting principles and practices 
• Ability to work independently and in a team-setting 
• Ability to handle deadlines 
• Strong written, verbal communication and listening skills 
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail 
• Willingness to engage in productive and challenging work 
• Be open and receptive to feedback and learning opportunities

Additional Information: 

Time Commitment: May 27, 2025 – August 15, 2025 

Compensation: Undergraduate students receive $15/hour, graduate students receive $17/hour
