About the role

At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the team:

Our mission is to redefine how rockets are built and launched. At the Cape launch site, our team handles all aspects of vehicle, payload, pad, and recovery operations. As a Welder on the Launch Team, you'll play a pivotal role in building critical components and systems on the TerranR launch site. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced aerospace environment, complete complex projects, and collaborate seamlessly across teams. You should be capable of delivering high-quality work and managing projects with minimal supervision.

About the Role:

As a Welder on the Launch Team, you will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding critical piping systems that support the Terran R launch site, including process piping, utility systems, and other ground support infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure piping systems are installed safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards. Attention to detail, and ability to produce high-quality welds in both shop and field environments will be essential to building reliable systems that support launch operations.

About You:
  • You have 1+ years of professional welding or fabrication experience, with a strong interest in developing your skills as a welder
  • You're familiar with basic welding processes and can perform quality welds with appropriate guidance and supervision
  • You can read and interpret basic blueprints, weld symbols, drawings, and work instructions
  • You're familiar with preparing materials for welding, including measuring, cutting, grinding, cleaning, and properly positioning components
  • You have basic knowledge of weld fit-up, joint preparation, preheating, and proper welding techniques
  • You're comfortable using common welding and fabrication tools, including welders, grinders, drills, saws, clamps, levels, measuring tools, and other shop equipment
  • You understand the importance of following weld procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards, and you're willing to ask questions when you're unsure
  • You're able to safely lift up to 40 lbs. and thrive in an active industrial or fabrication environment where safety, quality, and productivity are critical
  •  You take ownership of assigned work, maintain a clean and organized work area, and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop your welding skills

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other common materials
  • Previous experience with structural welding, pipe welding, fabrication, or mechanical assembly
  • Experience reading detailed fabrication drawings, weld maps, or weld procedures
  • Welding certifications or previous experience working toward AWS, ASME, or other applicable qualifications
  •  Previous experience in aerospace, power generation, shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction, or other industrial environments
  • Experience working in fast-paced field construction, commissioning, or launch site operations where safety, quality, and execution are critical.
