Drug Product Development (DPD)
Our Drug Product Development team is committed to CMC design, development, and commercialization of innovative drug products to improve patient lives. Position Summary
Integrated Technologies & Engineering (ITE) drives Product Understanding and Control in Drug Product Development leveraging experimental efficiency, predictive design, data analytics and digital integration, process analytical technology, statistical and numerical analytics. ITE is seeking a diligent, curious, collaborative engineer/scientist with a passion for leveraging technology to extend and enhance patient lives, with expertise in experimental design and execution as well as data analytics and data science.
The successful candidate demonstrates innovative approaches to experimental design and competency applying digital and data science solutions to address unique process and formulation development challenges. They have excellent communication skills and are comfortable collaborating across functions to develop new drug products by leveraging advanced technologies. They align strongly with BMS’s core values including integrity and inclusion.
As part of this role, the candidate is expected to exhibit a growth mindset and develop expertise in emerging technologies, represent ITE on drug product project teams, execute experiments including scale-down, high throughput, or automation, and harness data analytics to deliver knowledge to product development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate problem solving using scientific, engineering, analytical, laboratory and data analytical techniques to support drug product development from early development to product launch as a member of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and applies these to address cross functional development challenges.
- Collaborate with formulation and process development teams to provide data for product commercialization and new technologies, and to optimize or enhance existing products or processes.
- Develop insights from empirical investigation in labs and pilot areas as well as through data analytics and in silico modeling.
- Apply modeling and data science techniques to extract knowledge and value from data sets
- Ensure compliances with all regulations and policies and perform all work in a safe manner
- Maintain proper records (electronic notebooks, batch sheets, etc.) per relevant SOPs
- Prepare and present research in top-leading journals or conferences
- Maintain a well-documented, reusable codebase, and traceable model history
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors / Masters with 5 years' experience or entry-level Ph.D. within a scientific or engineering discipline is required. Practical experience directly relevant to the role is valuable for success and minimum degree requirements change relative to experience.
- 0-5 years of experience in drug product development and problem solving in the pharmaceutical or other life science industry and/or experience with modeling, implementing digital technology into laboratory/processing environments (see above).
- Working knowledge of key pharmaceutical unit operations both in drug substance and drug product, for oral solids and/o
