Summary of Job Duties:

The Court Observation Arkansas (COAR) Project is a three-year research project to collect transparent data about the Arkansas criminal justice system by observing proceedings in Arkansas courts. In the summer of 2024, COAR began a partnership with the Veterans Legal Services Clinic (VLSC) to conduct research related to the Veterans Treatment Courts in Arkansas. Under the supervision of the VLSC Director, Rebecca Feldmann, the Veterans Justice Fellow will conduct research, engage in community outreach, and participate in other projects related to racial justice and related access to justice issues involving veterans. The Veterans Justice Fellow must have excellent legal research and writing skills, demonstrate a commitment to racial justice, and be able to work independently. Students interested in this position must have completed at least two semesters of full-time law school study and be able to work up to 15 hours/week during the semester for two consecutive semesters.

The Extra Help Assistant is responsible for providing unskilled, semi-skilled labor or performing basic office tasks in a state agency or institution. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and or Experience:

  • Currently enrolled at the UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law
  • Be able to work 15 hours per week for a commitment of two consecutive semesters
