Job Description

The Data Analyst Internship is a temporary position within HII – Mission Technologies which prepares a college student for entry into the workforce by providing emphasis on training and gathering experience related to a student's educational discipline and which is applicable to the business needs of the company. The position is for college students who are rising sophomores or juniors in their academic program and available to work Part-time (24 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2025.

 

This opportunity will require being in person and onsite at our McLean, VA Headquarters on Monday and Wednesday first 4 weeks. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

 

• Support the Quality function of the Mission Technologies division
• Assist in collecting, cleansing, and analyzing structured and unstructured operational data as generated by our onboarding, program management, quality (supplier management, Corrective Action Tracking, Risk Mgt., etc.) and Training functions
• Assist in the development of dashboards and reports using tools such as Excel, Tableau, Smartsheets, and Power BI
• Coordinate with internal leaders to identify key metrics and data needs to ensure successful delivery
• Document data processes, sources, and findings for internal use 
• Perform work that is pertinent to field study
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

 

High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with between 40% and 60% of the required credits completed. Preference for Finance, Accounting, Data Analysis, Economics, or related curriculum.  Must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or higher while participating in this internship.

 

Skills:

• Basic knowledge of Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
• Excellent writing, communication and listening skills.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking 
• Must be diligent, organized, hardworking and a fast learner.
• Desires to gain professional experience and eager to learn.

Physical Requirements

 

Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
