Personal Supports - Friday (10am - 3pm)

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Support Professional to provide essential in-home support. The individual requires assistance with personal care, activities of daily living (ADLs), community engagement, and access. The ideal candidate will be patient, understanding, and able to facilitate the individual’s independence and participation in the community.

Location: Bel Pre, Silver Spring, MD

Key Responsibilities:

Personal Care Assistance: 

• Support with daily personal care tasks, including hygiene, dressing, and grooming, ensuring comfort and dignity.

• Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): 

• Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and other daily living activities to promote independence within her home.

• Community Engagement: 

• Facilitate the individual’s access to community activities, including trips to the community pool, shopping excursions, and other recreational outings. Encourage participation and engagement in these activities.

Communication Support: 

• Assist using their computer for text communication, helping to express their needs and preferences effectively.

Transportation Assistance: 

• Provide support with driving their scooter to various locations, ensuring their safety and comfort during outings.

Collaboration with Nursing Staff: 

• Work in conjunction with the individuals nursing support services for health case management, nursing plan development, and medication oversight, ensuring coordinated care.

Candidate Qualities:

• Previous experience in personal support or caregiving, particularly with individuals with disabilities, is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to facilitate text-based communication and effective engagement.
• Ability to assist with mobility and transportation needs, particularly with scooter use.
• Excellent organizational skills to the individual’s daily schedule
• Flexibility and adaptability to adjust support based on changing needs and preferences.

Required Qualifications:

• Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19
• High School Diploma
• Valid Driver’s License
• Possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of individuals supported.
• Comfortable in an environment where individuals supported may not be able to perform essential life duties.
• Ability to work professionally and discretely with confidential information.
• High level of personal and professional integrity.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a verbal and written manner.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Ability to use computer applications to fulfill job duties, including the use of individual documentation system, Microsoft Word, assigned payroll systems, LTSS (as assigned) and vehicle inspection reporting system
