Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Sr Principal Data Scientist. This position will be located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO and will support the SDS Division.

In this role, you will be instrumental in managing, engineering, and analyzing diverse data sets across various business areas. Our team is dedicated to developing a culture of data-driven decision-making and creating business value by utilizing data analytics techniques. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to identify, develop, and deploy data solutions that align with our strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, a self-starter, and capable of challenging the status quo while driving innovation in data engineering solutions. This position provides the chance to apply your expertise in data engineering to projects with significant impact.  Responsibilities will include:

-Lead the design and construction of scalable data pipelines to integrate various data sources within the defense sector.
-Develop and optimize data models and database management systems, working independently and mentoring junior engineers.
-Implement and enhance ETL processes and data warehousing solutions to ensure efficient data flow and storage.
-Apply advanced analytics and machine learning techniques for system modeling and predictive maintenance projects.
-Maintain and improve DevOps practices, including version control, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment for data workflows.
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, translate them into data-driven solutions, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
-Ensure adherence to data security protocols and compliance with industry regulations, demonstrating expertise in best practices.
-Engage in continuous learning to stay at the forefront of data engineering trends and technologies.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role does not offer relocation assistance.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience OR Master’s degree with at least 6 years of experience or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
• Experience in designing, building, optimizing and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure with tools such as (Apache Airflow, Prefect, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory).
• Proficiency in Python or Scala for data proces
