This position is a strategic, high‑visibility role that sits at the intersection of healthcare technology, clinical research, education, and innovation. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for Research and Emerging Technology, the Sr. Advisor will serve as a key strategic partner to senior leaders and operational stakeholders across the system. This individual will influence enterprise decisions, lead cross‑functional initiatives, and drive meaningful advancements in technology‑enabled education, clinical research, and emerging innovation.

Reports to: Chief Medical Information Officer

Direct Reports: None

Shift: Full-time, Monday-Friday

Location: Indianapolis, IN  

The Scope: 

The Sr. Advisor will drive innovative and successful initiatives across clinical research, technology integration, and educational strategies in partnership with the IT team and clinical workforce. Candidates should possess deep expertise in IT and healthcare, and preferred experience in research and education. Ideal candidates will have a record of collaborative leadership and strategic vision. This position is central to advancing IU Health's mission and ensuring excellence in technology-driven healthcare solutions.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for this position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare technology, operations and/or clinical leadership

  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and regulatory environments

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to influence without authority and lead crossfunctional initiatives

  • ITIL, PMP, CBAP, or equivalent certification required

  • Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, or other major healthcare platforms

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CMIO, senior executives, clinical leaders, researchers, and educators.

  • Lead enterpriselevel strategic initiatives in technologyenabled education, clinical research, and emerging innovation.

  • Provide highlevel decision support, guidance, and vision setting related to new technologies, integration models, and academic partnerships.

  • Lead projects and initiatives that are highly visible, crossfunctional, and tied to systemlevel priorities or academic partnerships.

  • Own strategies and outcomes, ensuring initiatives remain aligned with strategic goals.

  • Present recommendations, updates, and findings to executive audiences and governance bodies.

  • Support strategy and adoption of technology platforms such as Epic and other digital tools to enhance education and clinical research workflows.

  • Guide technology integration into academic programming, clinician training, and simulation environments.

  • Provide expertise on clinical workflow alignment and evaluation of emerging technologies.
