About the role

Your Role
At MilliporeSigma, the QC Scientist is responsible for performing chemical analysis using a variety of techniques and instruments including GC, HPLC, UV-Vis, Karl Fisher titrator, and LC-MS. The QC Scientist will work independently and in teams to solve analytical problems using sound analytical chemistry principles, practices, methods, and techniques. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Perform routine wet chemistry analysis such as titrations and other ACS methods, as well as instrumental analysis including GC, HPLC, UV-VIS, Auto-titrators, LC-MS, GC-MS to support the production of high purity solvents and solutions. 

  • Prepare chemical solutions for use in calibration and analysis. 

  • Make calculations according to detailed standard operating procedures and/or instructions. 

  • Comply and organize raw and refined data for clear communication and interpretation. 

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment. 

  • Maintain appropriate laboratory supply levels. 

  • Order laboratory supplies and materials from outside vendors. 

  • Organize daily activities effectively and efficiently to achieve expected results. 

  • Maintain safe working conditions and practices in compliance with established safety procedures including mandatory participation in daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly safety meetings. 

  • Maintain higher housekeeping standard and good laboratory practices. 

 

Who You Are  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology or other scientific discipline with 1+ years’ experience working in a QC laboratory 

OR 

  • Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other scientific discipline with 2+ years’ experience working in QC laboratory. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Good organizational skills, detail orientated, take initiative, and possess self- motivation. 

  • Experience with analytical laboratory tools (KF titrator, HPLC, GC, pH meters, UV-Vis, etc.) 

  • Knowledge of chemical analyses and processes. 

  • Good computer skills (scientific instrument software, Word, Excel, Outlook). 

  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to function effectively in a team environment.
