About this role

What will you be responsible for?
The Analytical Laboratory Technical Advisor is part of the Newmont Metallurgical Services team, plays an essential role in guiding the analytical laboratories across Newmont ensuring precision, and driving innovation, to aid in the optimization of analytical chemistry methodologies for high productivity and accurate chemical characterization of samples. Provides mentorship to strengthen the technical knowledge of Chemists and Technicians throughout the organization.

Safety and Health
•    Promote safety as a value at Newmont. 
•    Act safely on a personal basis and encourage safe practices with others in the team.
•    Identify potential hazards and take appropriate action to control; communicate potential and outcome to entire team. 
•    Replicate findings across other departments when warranted.
Business Results
•    Maintain expert-level technical knowledge of all analytical methods (IC, ICP/ICPMS, AA, sulfur and carbon analysis, FA), including data interpretation, troubleshooting and QA/QC.
•    Stay abreast of latest analytical chemistry/technological developments.
•    Scoping, planning of projects, for optimization of analytical lab methods or implementation of new techniques.
•    Lead method development opportunities related to existing and new technologies associated with analytical analyses.
•    Collect and analyze data, write reports and other related documentation for different test programs.
•    Provide support in the field of analytical chemistry to other teams within Newmont Metallurgical Services (NMS) and Global Metallurgy, Exploration, Projects and Operations.
Relationships
•    The Analytical Lab Technical Advisor will be part of the Newmont Metallurgical Services team.
•    Develop lines of communication with external departments and shared services.
•    Maintain communication with third parties such as other laboratories, companies, technology providers, universities to ensure best practices are followed and innovative ideas are considered and implemented in support of test programs.
•    Act in a manner that reinforces "The Newmont Values Statement".

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we need to see from you!
Education
•    Advanced Degree or equivalent in Chemistry or related field.
Experience
•    Experience should include 10 years laboratory experience in the analysis of copper and gold ores, development of new analytical methods and implementation of analytical QA/QC programs, and evaluation of new technologies for metal analysis.
Skills and Abilities
•    Strong problem solving skills and ability to communicate complex issues clearly and efficiently.

Working conditions and location

Where you will be located
•    The position is located at the Englewood MTF office.
•    Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.
