Weld Analyzer - 1st Shift

SUMMARY

Testing of production / pre-production parts to measure conformance to Multimatic and customer specifications regarding MIG , spot and resistance welds. Must be self-directed and work well with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES         

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

• Prepare samples for Cut & Etch:
  • Plasma Cutting, Wet Saw, Polishing & Etching (Acid)
• Perform Destructive Cut & Etch testing on production MIG welds.
  • Capture images and measure weld features using computerized software.
• Perform Rockwell hardness testing as required. (infrequent)
• Perform destructive & non-destructive testing on Resistance Spot welds and Resistance Projection nuts/studs.
• Manage Discrepant Weld Reports including emailing and the generation/data entry/ and saving of reports in Excel.

• Document, File and Maintain in-process inspection reports.
• Assist others as assigned.
• Conduct oneself in a professional and technical manner that positively impacts the Quality Department and MNH as a whole

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The employee may be required to travel and stay overnight on occasion.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook)
• Welding & Plasma Cutting (desired)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A High School diploma or GED.  Two (2) years general or specific experience in this field desired. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and communicate verbally effectively.

• Must be able to utilize two-way radios to communicate with Maintenance Weld Technicians and Production Group Leads when issues arise.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply math concepts for calculating and validating results.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense when interpreting if testing results meet the requirements or if improvement is needed.

• Expected to reach out for help, in areas of uncertainty.

Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, while supporting personnel and the organization’s preferences and priorities.

Ability to communicate with coworkers in a professional manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near machinery and moving parts.  The employee may be exposed to the risk of electromagnetic fields, risk of electric shock and vibration. 

The noise level in the work environment will vary depending upon the aspects of the job being performed at a given time from a loud production environment requiring hearing protection to a quiet lab environment.

PPE will be required specific to the task being performed.
