Systems Engineer - Satellite Lab , Kuiper

About the role
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. You will bring that vision to life by being part of the team responsible for managing test satellites on the ground.
In this role, you will closely with satellite lab partners
,such as hardware and software engineers, to assure system performance and uptime. You will identify system deficiencies and develop solutions to optimize present and implement with minimal oversight.
You will support reviews of ground tests and flight operations, while developing the knowledge and experience to support scaling and implementing operational excellence best practices in the satellite lab.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to improve test systems software.
- Define and enforce operational excellence framework for all hardware and software teams thru automated data collection, alarming and monitoring.
- Communicate your ideas effectively to achieve the right outcome for your team and customer. Seek diverse perspectives, and incorporate feedback to create a better outcome.
- Develop or implement tools and processes to support autonomous and scalable identification of anomalies in test/flight data.
- Write, run, and review hardware-in-the-loop tests against system concept of operations (CONOPs) and requirements
- Support writing, reviewing, and maintaining design and test artifacts. This includes software interfaces, high-level software requirements, and hardware requirements.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Redmond, WA, USA
- 4+ years of experience integrating software and hardware systems
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Rust, GoLang, Java
- Hands-on embedded software development and integration experience.
- Hands-on experience with networked systems and peripheral interfacing (CAN, GPIO, I2C, SPI).
- Experience reading hardware and wiring schematics
- 2+ year of working with spacecraft industry

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience integrating software and hardware systems
