Responsibilities
Team Introduction
We are building the central and unified authorization service at Bytedance. The services we build and support include
- Authorization Product, which provides the customer-facing interface that's used by all Bytedance employees daily.
- Authorization Backend, which provides the unified and central authorization capability at Bytedance
We have an unique opportunity to drive Least Privilege Access Control on Bytedance Infrastructure and make it the most secure cloud in the industry. Experience with security is a plus, but not required for our positions, and we welcome any engineer with security mindset and passionate about building secure and scalable infra to talk to us!
We have four major initiatives in our team:
- Build the most secure, reliable and scalable infra that enables high-quality service.
- Enforce fine-grained access control to secure all Bytedance resources and assets.
- Provide intuitive, efficient and transparent access experience to our users.
- Govern the permissions with automation and tools that enforce the least-privileged access control.
Responsibilities:
- Grow and manage the authorization engineering US team
- Set the product vision and strategy with product and business teams, and oversee the engineering roadmap.
- Effectively scale the engineering team by attracting and mentoring extraordinary people at various experience levels to grow a high performing and diverse team.
- Serve as a technical expert for requirements, design and implementation of company-wide authorization products and tools
- Serve as a technical expert for requirements, design and implementation of authorization products and tools
- Partner with Product, Operation team, Security/Legal/Compliance and other Bytedance Engineering teams to drive the company-wide authorization area
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant majors.
- 5+ years of industry experience in a highly distributed environment
- 3+ years of engineering leadership experience
- Experienced in the design and implementation of large scale backend systems
- Experienced in driving collaboration across various functional teams on delivering shared goals.
- Creative problem-solving skills and excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Strong written/verbal communication and excellent teamwork skills

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $210000 - $358000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
