Accountable for knowing and adhering to all location safety procedures including red tagging and personal protective equipment. Performs maintenance of instrumentation, electrical, and controls equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates equipment. Monitors equipment performance through test, analysis, and report variances. Must be capable of handling required responsibilities with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operations, maintenance and balance of plant functions required at the Combustion Turbine facility.

  • Perform planned and unplanned maintenance on Power Plant equipment at the Combustion Turbine facility.

  • Perform and follow Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures on equipment such as HRSGs, steam turbines, gas turbines, pumps valves, chillers and high voltage equipment

  • Performs record keeping duties concerning Environmental, Health & Safety records, spreadsheets and documents. Complete required training as needed on time.

  • Able to make repairs to steam turbine auxiliary, prime movers and balance of plant equipment that support these systems at a Combustion Turbine facility.

  • Ability to read and understand technical OEM manuals, recommendations and warranty agreements

  • Support and follow safety guidelines, policies and procedures.

  • Ability to understand, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain water treatment facilities such as reverse osmosis, demineralizers, and chemical treatment equipment along with chillers, cooling towers, HRSGs. Understand and know how to calibrate and troubleshoot all instrumentation and MOV's in the plant.

  • Perform and monitor combustion turbine plant equipment through normal operations, testing and emergency type events

  • Must have general mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge to troubleshoot, maintain and operate a combustion turbine site

  • Ability to read and understand technical mechanical, civil, electrical drawings

  • Will perform high voltage switching.

  • Will work on DC equipment and maintain and perform PMs on battery banks at the site.

  • Trouble shoot and repair electrical, controls, and mechanical equipment using drawings and OE manuals.

  • Calibrate instrumentation in the plant.

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • Associates degree or

  • Technical degree

  • 2 years related work experience

  • In lieu of Technical degree(s) AND 2 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 2 year(s) related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or

  • Associates degree in Instrumentation Engineering Technology

  • In addition to desired degree, 4 years’ related work experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be proficient with computers, software applications and plant work management software and tools such as Microsoft packages that include word, excel, power point. In addition, experience with maintenance management systems such as Maximo, Passport or equivalent.

  • Must have the ability to work within a team-oriented environment and demonstrate team interface skills.

  • Additional years of experience with combustion turbine technology is preferred and will be given preference over other power industry experience.

  • Experience with large heavy gas turbine and steam turbine supplier technologies

  • High voltage and substation maintenance and troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience with mechanical and electronic field-testing equipment

  • Experience with digital control systems, programmable logic controllers, and multi-fueled technologies

  • Experience with heavy equipment rigging and a combustion turbine site with heavy equipment.

  • Knowledge of heavy lifting cranes and rigging requirements.

  • Perform electrical maintenance activities on powerhouse equipment, such as motors, breakers, transformers, electrical relays, switchyards, contactors, etc.
