Job Description
The Plant Controller provides total financial support for the manufacturing location to ensure consistency with corporate policies, procedures and guidelines. They will have responsibility for setting key financial performance indicators and effectively communicating financial analysis and recommendations to management to improve financial performance and guidance. The successful candidate is an excellent business and financial leader, while also being a strong manager and developer of talent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports management in the Annual Plan, Long-Range-Plan, Critical Forecast and Monthly Outlook.
- Partners with plant leadership on strategy planning of the business unit.
- Analyzes and provides clear communications to management regarding significant variances to forecast and Plan.
- Provides visibility to plant management key metrics throughout the month (daily, weekly, MTD actual vs forecast) and effectively communicates analysis and recommendations.
- Partners with plant management to monitor plant performance and identify ways to improve cost.
- Helps Operations team understand how their choices and decisions will impact the financials.
- Plans, coordinates and administers the Operating Unit’s accounting functions, including cost accounting, general accounting and inventory accounting.
- Partners with the Operations team in the preparation of financial justification for capital requests including ROI, NPV, and Payback.
- Manages monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities to ensure books are closed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsible for the review, implementation, and documentation of internal controls (specifically the ITW ICQ questionnaire and the Top 13 Controls). The Plant Controller also ensures that we are targeting above average results to any internal audits.
- Leads and/or participates in ITW Toolbox Initiatives within the business (80/20, USa, PLS).
- Other projects and duties as business requires.
Qualifications
To perform the Plant Controller job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; a CPA, or CMA is preferred
- 7+ years of progressive financial accounting experience, preferably with Plant Controller experience of a facility greater than $75M in revenue
- Strong inventory and cost accounting background
- Prior supervisory/management experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving experience with 80/20 mindset
- Ability to set key financial performance indicators and effectively communicate financial analysis and recommendations to management to improve financial performance
- Proven time management and prioritization ability
- Ability to resolve issues/conflicts in a timely manner
- Excellent written, verbal, and computer communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop self and others for future opportunities in the organization
- Demonstrates solid understanding and ensures compliance with accounting/company policies and procedures, statutory compliance, accounting and taxation
