Geotab is seeking a Vehicle Systems Engineering Team Lead who will be focused on growing Geotab's world class vehicle support by researching new vehicles, reverse engineering their systems and automating the process with software tools. What you'll do:

As a Vehicle Systems Engineering Team Lead your key area of responsibility will be coaching, mentoring and leading a sub-team of Vehicle Systems Engineering staff within the Vehicle Systems Engineering global team, supporting and aligning this team in order to meet the overall team’s goals and deliverables. You will work closely with internal Geotab teams including embedded development, hardware engineering, design validation, solutions, engineering, engineering support and product development teams. 

To be successful in this role you will be a strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization and have excellent influence without authority capabilities, verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations and training. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong people management and project management skills.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Manage team expectations with regards to task assignments, work arrangements, and other department expectations.

  • Support team and direct reports in their participation in the Agile development workflow. Encourage and participate in review, retro, planning and daily stand up activities to facilitate development, and continuous improvement and information sharing for the team. 

  • Guide, support and coach team members by working with OEMs in a technical capacity to implement industry standard data and custom proprietary data compatible with Geotab's products.

  • Use BigQuery, and Google Cloud compute for automated analysis of vehicle data and identify vehicle support gaps from our products.

  • Support the global reverse engineering vision and process by contributing to the use, design and implementation of the software tooling.

  • Provide expert project leadership and guidance to the team as SME.

  • Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports.

  • Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to the team.

  • Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.

  • Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.
