Job Summary:
As a Senior Data Architect within Acrisure’s Business Information team, you will lead the design and development of enterprise data models, high-performance ETL frameworks, and architectural strategies to support data warehousing, reporting, and analytics across the organization. Leveraging your deep expertise in dimensional modeling, SQL Server, and automation via PowerShell, you will play a central role in transforming Acrisure’s data architecture to drive business insight and efficiency.
You’ll collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to unify and modernize our data ecosystem—laying the groundwork for scalable and sustainable growth across our business domains.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, model, and maintain enterprise data solutions using best practices in dimensional modeling (Ralph Kimball methodology) and OLAP/OLTP optimization.
- Lead the design of conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support core enterprise systems, reporting, and analytics.
- Develop high-efficiency, scalable ETL frameworks using SQL Server, SSIS, and PowerShell across legacy and modern data platforms.
- Partner with BI and reporting teams to support complex SSRS and Power BI report development, including performance tuning and query optimization.
- Evaluate and implement storage optimization strategies such as partitioning, compression (Row/Page/Columnstore), and indexing (including Columnstore and Indexed Views).
- Drive architectural initiatives such as data quality frameworks, error-handling strategies, metadata management, and documentation standards.
- Lead discussions with cross-functional teams, including engineers and non-technical stakeholders, to gather requirements and recommend data solutions.
- Serve as a mentor and technical leader for junior engineers and BI developers, supporting knowledge sharing and best practices across the team.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of Acrisure’s data warehouse strategy and roadmap through proactive research and experimentation with new technologies and tools.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, ETL development, and performance tuning—preferably within insurance, fintech, or data-intensive environments.
- Expert-level SQL development skills, including T-SQL, window functions, CTEs, advanced subqueries, and dynamic SQL.
- Proficiency in SQL Server versions 2008–2022, including hands-on experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
- Significant experience with PowerShell scripting for ETL, automation, and deployment workflows.
- Strong dimensional modeling expertise and demonstrated ability to build and optimize fact/dimension schemas.
- Familiarity with JSON processing (e.g., OPENJSON, FOR JSON) and integrating semi-structured data into structured storage.
- Working knowledge of performance monitoring tools (e.g., Query Store) and ability to diagnose and resolve database bottlenecks.
- Experience working with Snowflake, Azure SQL Database, or similar cloud data platforms is a plus.
Desired Skills:
- Experience mentoring teams on database best practices and guiding solution architecture decisions.
- Strong documentation skills using tools like Confluence, Visio, and Erwin Data Modeler.
- Familiarity with Agile development environments and source control (e.g., Bitbucket, Git).
- Exposure to insurance and financial services systems or regulatory data requirements is a bonus.
