A Day in the Life

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior Director of Commercial Marketing to lead the strategic development and execution of marketing, medical education, and sales training plans to support the Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Business. The perfect candidate for this role is mission driven and will run the ~$80 M CHD with a high degree of autonomy, driving this business to consistently hit/exceed plan. The Senior Director of Global Commercial Marketing for CHD will achieve these results by:

  • Driving commercial execution through her/his team of direct reports Maximizing their impact through the field and the R&D core team influence

  • Building and leveraging relationships with key KOLs in the CHD field

  • Leading, developing, and building high-performing teams

The Senior Director will also be a key member of the Global Commercial Marketing leadership team staff and will work with all stakeholders on the team to be the voice of the CHD business, helping define tradeoffs, priorities, and business direction. With the broad functional responsibility scope and the need for a leader to represent CHD this role offers the candidate a unique business leadership and ownership opportunity for the CHD franchise over other standard downstream marketing leadership roles.

We’re working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.  This job can be based out of our Mounds View location in Minnesota or one of our Orange County, California offices.

1. Develop and Implement Commercial Plan to drive CHD share and adoption globally

  • Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive commercial marketing plans to drive adoption and expand the market for CHD.

  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive dynamics to identify opportunities and shape strategic initiatives.

  • Guide development of messaging strategies, education programs, and value propositions tailored to target audiences, including healthcare providers, payers, regional sales reps, and patients.

2. Lead Global Product Launch for CHD products in Target Markets

  • Lead the launch of CHD products in markets contracted through MDT internal business review process outside of the United States.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop strategies that support new therapy adoption

  • Engage key opinion leaders (KOLs) to drive therapy adoption and ensure successful product introduction

3. Drive Operational Excellence

  • Lead the CHD business in the Integrated Business Process of SH ensuring effective and accurate demand planning, supply forecasting, etc.

  • Represent CHD franchise in leadership meetings to help understand and drive quarterly business results  

  • Drive team to deliver realistic assessments of present and future opportunities for the CHD business and ensure those perspectives are informing SH business processes like AOP, Strat Plan, etc

4. Team Leadership and Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing downstream marketing, medical education, and sales training team, fostering a culture of mission-driven purpose, collaboration, and accountability.

  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to team members, ensuring continuous growth and skill enhancement.

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and serve as a role model for Medtronic’s values and leadership principles.

  • Develop effective succession planning to ensure that the existing talent is engaged and ready to elevate with development.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) to enhance the company's reputation and influence within the industry. Collaborate with KOLs to gather insights and drive strategic initiatives.

  • Partner with the US sales team and Global partners to deliver effective tools and materials that drive customer engagement and therapy
