Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer – LCN – Princeton, IL
Summary:
The responsibility of the Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer is the tactical and strategic management of all engineering activities related to the assigned production team. The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer reports to the Engineering Leader of the respective Value Stream.
Primary Goals of this position include:
- Tactical Execution – Manage the effective prioritization and resourcing for completion of projects, and problem-solving efforts, to improve safety, product quality, productivity and on time delivery
- Strategic Growth - Drive continuous improvement in all systems and processes through the use of our problem-solving process
- People Development – Provide the opportunities for yourself, and your team members to learn and grow daily
What You Will Do:
- Design, run, test and upgrade existing and new production processes
- Manage multiple large scope projects to create a continuous pipeline of productivity savings
- Mentor and teach early career technicians and engineers
- Analyze proposed changes for manufacturing impact and feasibility.
- Develop and maintains all process documentation (i.e., routings, standard work, work instructions, setup sheets, time studies etc.) to ensure accuracy.
- Acts as a project manager on complex projects initiating, planning, scheduling, and coordinating the overall project and design
- Confers with vendors to determine specifications of products, arrange equipment, and purchase material and parts.
- Develop and maintain process controls through advanced quality planning techniques (FMEA, key characteristics management, mistake proofing, etc.)
- Lead and implement Lean Manufacturing tools & techniques (workshops, kan ban, visual management, 5S, total productive maintenance, set-up reduction, etc.)
- Partners with all other functional groups to create a successful work environment that thrives on collaboration, process creation and adherence
- Ensure engineering solutions meet requirements for safety, cost, time, and quality
- Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Manage multiple projects / assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, workflow, and design layouts of equipment for maximum efficiency
- Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Lead and use structured problem-solving approaches, Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis and Design of Experiment methods to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
- Attend training opportunities deemed necessary by management
What You Will Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering
- Leadership skills sufficient to effectively manage teams in completing and executing projects
- Expertise in AutoCAD, Creo, MS Office Suite (excel, project, word, power point).
- Organized and attentive to detail
- Mechanical and process design expertise in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and in independent situations, while maintaining strong work relationships
- Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques
- Desire to work hands on with projects and equipment
- Solid written and verbal communication as well as conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to assess risks/issues and make decisions, acting with a sense of urgency
- Strong critical thinking skills including using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Prioritize multiple projects and assignments to focus on the biggest business impact
- Project Management skills (budgeting, action lists, etc.)
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing, Root
