The Role at a Glance
As the SVP, Head of Institutional Retirement Plan Sales, you will provide executive strategic leadership for Retirement Plan Services (RPS) sales and distribution functions. You will be responsible for shaping and executing the distribution strategy to drive growth, achieve sales goals, ensure operational excellence and deliver on both short- and long-term financial objectives aligned with divisional and enterprise goals.
What you'll be doing
• Develops an overall strategic vision for the RPS Sales organization
• Establish RPS Sales organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures
• Ensures effective implementation, integration, and execution of strategic and tactical plan initiatives
• Align RPS Sales operational plans with division and enterprise business strategies
• Develop and execute strategies to increase sales team productivity, resulting in improved profitability
• Design and implement strategic sales and marketing plans for the RPS business unit, including: market research and forecasting, new market identification and segmentation, identification of new distribution channels, and marketing communications
• Contribute to policy-making areas impacting: product development, communications and positioning, network development, customer requirements, pricing strategy, customer service standards
• Provide executive management with recommendations supported by clear rationale and ROI analysis
• Develop tracking mechanisms through Information Systems to evaluate and document program effectiveness
• Support sales growth initiatives by collaborating with consultants and employers to position the RPS sales team for current and future needs
• Provide strategic leadership by analyzing business, economic, and client trends to craft profitable short- and long-term strategies within RPS products
• Establish, monitor, and deliver financial performance including revenue and expense benchmarks
• Direct and motivate a high-performing sales force to achieve top- and bottom-line financial results, establishing sales growth and profitability targets
• Establish management routines with external brokers to ensure delivery of integrated firm offerings
• Formulate, communicate, and implement strategies, policies, and systems to minimize enterprise risk while balancing external broker needs
• Develop strategies to leverage internal RPS capabilities to drive sales
• Establish and execute appropriate financial and productivity measures and metrics
• Lead the RPS sales organization to deliver exceptional internal and external customer service while maintaining operational effectiveness
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
· 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in the retirement plan services market
· 5+ years in senior management and strategy
· Demonstrated excellent relationship management skills with internal clients (i.e. executive management, peers, and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches to driving client-focused solutions which also benefited the company’s top and bottom lines
· Ability to create and effectively manage administrative budgets and develop business performance measures to evaluate productivity
· Demonstrated ability to manage a distribution system
· Ability to identify market segments and establish action plans for penetration
· Demonstrated experience in developing strategic initiatives and plans which have benefited a company’s top and bottom lines
· Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations
· Demonstrated excellent relationship management skills with internal clients (i.e. executive management, peers, and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches to driving client-focused solutions which also benefited the company’s top and bottom lines
