Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Cloud Storage Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing our private cloud infrastructure, focusing on storage, data protection, cyber recovery, and data resiliency technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of both hardware and software systems, as well as a background in virtualization, networking and cybersecurity.
 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Develop storage architecture that ensures data integrity, security and disaster recovery

  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data

  • Design and implement storage solutions using block storage, NAS and object storage technologies

  • Conduct research and make strategic recommendations on products and solutions standards in support of cloud, compute, storage and data protection services

  • Lead projects for server, storage solutions, data protection, and recovery planning, including the selection and application of appropriate technologies and methodologies

  • Develop and implement strategies for data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity

  • Build and maintain trusting partnership with business areas and technology leaders

  • Collaborate with the security team to implement and maintain robust security measures, ensuring the protection of sensitive data against unauthorized access or cyber threats

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in cloud computing, data storage, and cybersecurity, recommending upgrades and innovations to enhance infrastructure performance, resilience and efficiency

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies to enhance reliability, efficiencies and reduce cost

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for the storage infrastructure architecture, configurations, processes, and policies

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Serve as technical advisor to application and operation groups for compute, storage, data protection and cloud related services

  • Provide expert technical advice, guidance and recommendations to CVS Health’s leadership team relating to storage, data protection and cloud service offerings


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on private cloud environments, server and storage technologies, data protection, and cyber recovery

  • 10+ years experience in storage solutions (SAN/NAS/Object Storage), and automation & orchestration tools

  • 10+ years experience designing and implementing infrastructure platforms at scale

  • 8+ years experience with data center consolidation and data migration practices

  • 8+ years experience with backup and recovery solutions, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and networking

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Possess excellent multi-vendor relationship and management skills

  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and experience implementing security controls and compliance requirements in a cloud environment

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience)
