Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) seeks to hire an outstanding BE/BC Internal Medicine Physician for a full-time residency clinic faculty position with the Sutter Alta Bates Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program in Oakland, CA
Residency Faculty Duties:
Residency clinic faculty are a foundational element of graduate medical education that teach residents how to care for patients in the ambulatory primary care setting. Residency clinic faculty provide an important bridge allowing residents to grow and become practice-ready while ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. Residency clinic faculty should role model compassion, commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, professionalism, and a dedication to lifelong learning. Residency clinic faculty create an effective learning environment by acting in a professional manner and attending to the well-being of the residents and themselves.
The duties of residency clinic faculty include, but are not limited to:
- Precept and supervise residents in the primary care continuity clinic
- Ensure patients receive the highest quality of care
- Teach residents medical knowledge, clinical reasoning and practice skills necessary to assume a primary care role after residency
- Conduct individual clinic sessions (without residents) and care for a panel of patients (this is flexible depending on preference and clinic precepting needs)
- Advise and evaluate assigned residents
- Assist with resident interviews and recruitment
- Assist with curriculum development and monitoring
- Teach informal and formal didactics Presents part of the formal residency didactic series
- Participate in residency program committees as assigned by the program director
- Participate in the clinical management of the practice and appropriate clinical staff activities such as quality improvement activities
- Ensure that residents comply with all Sutter Health operational policies, procedures, and processes which include, but are not limited to those related to staffing, scheduling, registration, billing, collections, reporting, proper encounter documentation and coding
