Software Engineer II - React

Overview 

As a Software Engineer II, Front End at Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG), you will be instrumental in designing, developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining the new web front end for our Sportsbook and Casino applications. This role is pivotal in delivering a user-friendly, high-quality, and low-latency experience to our customers.  Your efforts will ensure a user-friendly, high-quality, and low-latency experience for our customers. You will leverage your skills in front-end development, data-driven design, and operational excellence to create a scalable and visually appealing interface. Your responsibilities include using modern frameworks, integrating third-party platforms, and adhering to process calibration and efficiency to enhance system reliability and performance.

Your ability to develop high-performance, low-latency systems will be crucial in handling significant user loads efficiently. Working collaboratively within a team, you will embrace principles of operational excellence and process efficiency. With a passion for innovation, you will deliver cutting-edge solutions that redefine the Sportsbook and Casino experience, contributing to FBG's competitive edge in this dynamic market.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, document, and deploy high quality software into production
• Build small features and tools that you and your team use
• Participate in the on-call rotation when needed to troubleshoot software issues
• Escalate when tasks or projects hit roadblocks
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge
• Contribute to team planning and design discussions, building more expertise around design approaches
• Impact software quality and customer experience of product features
• Improve testability, operational excellence metrics, and team documentation
• Help your team define and adhere to the principles, guidelines, and best practices of our engineering strategy
• Develop a fundamental understanding of our industry, product, feature set and roadmap
• Work closely with our product team and other internal stakeholders to make technology decisions that grow and improve our products
• Help to onboard and mentor junior engineers and interns
• Remain current on the latest technologies and trends in software development
• Must be open to occasional travel to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities

Required Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience building highly scalable and fault tolerant web front end applications
• Demonstrated proficiency in Javascript or Typescript
• Experience with modern front end frameworks such as React, Angular, Next
• Able to effectively communicate complex technical subjects to a variety of audiences (engineers, technical leaders, marketing and operations teams, non-technical functional leaders)
• Familiar with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• You have an agile mindset; able to embrace new initiatives in a fast-paced environment
• Thrives in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environment where priorities evolve regularly and decisions are made quickly
• Team-first mentality, with a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and a desire to strive for better
