SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Lead day to day operations for assigned shift providing guidance on firefighter related procedures; 2) Fight structural and airfield fires using prefire planning methods and familiarity of layouts and design; 3) Operate firefighting emergency vehicles and equipment; 4) Provide hazardous material incident response; and, 5) Provide basic life support procedures as needed for each emergency call. Additional Information (Continued): This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS 09: Fire Officer I Fire Officer II Fire Instructor I Fire Inspector I Fire Fighter II Airport Firefighte Apparatus Driver-Operator for Pumper, Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF), and Aerial vehicles Hazmat Incident Commander HAZMAT Operations Level State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician- Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) certification. The fire certifications must have been awarded by the DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible. Physical Demand: The position requires physical exertion for long and short periods of time, such as walking, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting. Incumbent will be required to undergo annual medical examination to determine fitness for continued performance of the duties of the station. Work Environment : The work environment involves high risks inherent with exposure to potentially dangerous situations, usual environmental stress. Exposure to noise, smoke, fire, hazardous chemicals, explosives, ammunition and other hazards. A wide range of safety precautions must be taken in these situations.
