Summary of Job Duties:

Learn and operate a centralized computer system and LIS in the laboratory. Verify patient identity and test(s) to be performed prior to specimen collection. Accurately collect and process appropriate patient samples for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Tracks specimens per PWHC protocol (labeling; processing via practice management specimen, etc.) Following Universal precautions as defined in the policy for the collection and disposal of specimens. Perform basic waived testing as well as CBC's when needed. Utilizes good handwashing and wears protective equipment as appropriate. Maintaining a clean work/lab draw area. Maintaining medical equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials. Disposing of sharps and bio-hazardous materials as per protocol. Understands the importance of and adheres to all HIPAA/confidentiality policies, procedures, and regulations.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
