About the role

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team builds and operates Microsoft datacenters, which in turn powers Microsoft’s cloud business. The CO+I Engineering team (CO+IE) delivers services, applications, and automation supporting datacenter planning, construction, and operation. We own a large portfolio of services, including workflows that enable predicable, lowest cost datacenter construction, telemetry systems that drive high availability and optimized energy usage, and task and performance management applications that help our operation run as efficiently as possible. CO+I Engineering is a competitive advantage for Microsoft, and an important pillar in its cloud success.

 

The Technical Delivery Leader - AMERS will be an experienced leader responsible for a regionally based team of full time employees and have both technical depth and experience in delivering bare metal infrastructure at scale, in operational and construction environments. The successful candidate will be a team player, possess  communication and collaboration skills, and have the ability to effectively manage and solve problems in alignment to standards and schedule. The role partners closely with colleagues, engineering and other infrastructure teams, along with key decision makers across geographic and organizational boundaries, while maintaining excellence in installation of network infrastructure for high security networks in datacenters and other spaces.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead and coach teams as they work with technical network design solutions deployed in the field. You will also lead teams to identify risks and propose data-driven mitigations.
  • You will lead teams to define success criteria and provide expertise knowledge to help them understand return on investment. You’ll also lead them to collaborate and ensure alignment on project management and successful delivery.
  • You will lead teams to deliver on roadmaps, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and help teams lead governance programs.
  • You will help teams drive continuous improvements by teaching them industry practices leading them to partner with other departments to collect performance metrics. You’ll also lead teams to own customer support and ensure they participate in direct customer engagements.
  • Manage relationships and expectations with various business stakeholders across CO+I.
  • Create and contribute to processes, procedures, and tools to drive continuous improvements in execution.
  • Drive regular and annual planning strategies, including budget, contract execution t encompass current and future scope commitments.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years project or people management experience.
  • 1+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, technical program management, data analysis,
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years people management experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ years experience in projects with multiple work streams and partners; demonstrated strategic planning abilities.
