ABOUT YOUR TASKS:

  • Commodity expert i.e. product, industry, suppliers, regulatory, etc.
  • Maintain commodity or product line knowledge of current industry conditions including:
    • Pricing information and trends 
    • Vendor information 
    • Regulatory requirements 
  • Manage vendor relationships, including:
    • Selection and performance
    • Develop, implement and maintain vendor managed inventory programs.
  • Negotiate terms, pricing and delivery/service conditions with vendors. Partner with material buyer/planners, shared service and manufacturing associates as required to accomplish: 
    • Research products.
    • Clarify specifications.
    • Document competitive bidding.
    • Coordinate and evaluate engineering changes regarding new products and modification to existing products to guarantee that all outside purchased items meet necessary specifications.
  • Analyze and manage the purchase order life cycle and initiate process improvement projects as required.
  • Initiate and lead system enhancement projects.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a vendor performance and relationship management program.
  • Analyze vendor quality trends and initiate corrective actions as determined.
  • Make cost reduction recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic computer knowledge, legal aspects of purchasing.
  • Must possess ERP (Oracle) knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with sales representatives and other personnel by phone, in person, or through written communication.
  • Work under pressure in a detailed and organized manner.
  • Assimilate information to make decisive decisions.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong business acumen.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Must be classified as a commodity (or product line) expert. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain mgmt., business or technical field required. 
  • Three to five years as a buyer or any combination of experience, education, or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill, and ability required.
  • Multi-lingual preferred.

  • Frequently (34-66%): Standing/Walking/Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling/Lifting/Pulling/Pushing/Fingering/Grasping/Feeling
  • Regularly (67-100%): Seeing/Hearing

WORKING CONDITION:

  • General office environment with several daily hours in the manufacturing plant.
