Overview:

The Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Office of Information Technology (MaineIT) provides information technology support to over 13,000 employees. MaineIT oversees large scale enterprise applications that support the critical and diverse business needs of the State of Maine and its agencies.

About the Job: 

As a Systems Team Leader, you’ll be leading a team of developers and analysts in the support and maintenance of computer programs and data warehouses.  You’ll interact with Enterprise Data Services customers daily as you complete various tasks. Daily work will vary, as your team offer support for multiple customers, and for multiple projects, throughout State Government. 

Examples of various tasks for this position may include:

  • Establish training and performance goals, and conduct evaluations to support continued growth and performance of your team.
  • Study and evaluate user problems to propose solutions and provide cost and time estimates.
  • Interact with various customers, project teams, and support partners via meetings, direct calls, and email for the continued improvement and support of services.
  • Participate  in reviews of functional requirements, system designs, test plans, and coding reviews to maintain project focus and quality
  • Support team members and maintain human resource standards for items such as policies, standards, recruitment, confidentiality policies
  • Perform special tasks as assigned where timelines and complexity may vary
  • Balance workloads between various projects, individual improvement plans, time off, and special requests

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in application system analysis and programming including a minimum of one (1) year in a working supervisor role -OR- a Bachelors Degree and 3 years of progressively responsible experience in application system analysis including a minimum of one (1) year in a working supervisor role -OR- a Masters Degree and 1 year of progressively responsible experience in application systems analysis in a working supervisor role.

Desirable soft skills include:

  • Understanding of customer relationship best practices.
  • Demonstrated desire to exercise accountability in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond in a timely and effective manner.
  • Understanding of empathy and how to exercise it with a variety of personalities.
  • Understanding of emotional intelligence principles.
  • Ability to listen and understand first before responding
