Cloud Database Engineer and DevOps Engineer Hybrid

<h2>Overview</h2> <p>This <strong>hybrid position encompasses Database, DevOps and Development</strong> and will focus on performance testing and ensuring optimal database design, configuration, and deployment.</p> <p>This role requires expertise in multiple database technologies, cloud platforms, and development tools to help development teams ensure scalable, reliable, secure, and high-performing data architectures.</p> <p>The Operations Performance team collaborates with other development teams to facilitate performance testing for their applications and services in support of our modern, cloud native, SaaS applications.</p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Work with development teams to evaluate performance of cloud-native database solutions, with a focus on MongoDB Atlas and PostgreSQL, and provide feedback and recommendations for improvements wherever possible.</li> <li>Collaborate with development teams to define best practices for database design, deployment, configuration, security, backup, replication and scalability.</li> <li>Review database queries and indexes and recommend optimizations to enhance database performance.</li> <li>Generate data models for database schemas and document database architectures, processes, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders.</li> <li>Work with AWS services such as RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, security groups, access control lists, parameter groups, IAM, S3, etc. to support cloud database operations and automation.</li> <li>Contribute to code base for database deployment, configuration, and documentation within Git repositories.</li> <li>Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning and management using tools such as Terraform.</li> <li>Periodic assistance with disaster recovery testing and preparedness.</li> <li>Stay current with emerging cloud database technologies and industry trends.</li> </ul> <h2>Basic Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.</li> <li>Solid understanding of database security, backup, and disaster recovery in cloud environments.</li> <li><strong>Experience with MongoDB Atlas, AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch in production and development environments.</strong></li> <li>Proficient in JSON and SQL to retrieve and manipulate data.</li> <li>Proficient using Git and GitHub for source control and collaboration.</li> <li><strong>Experience with SQL Server and Oracle.</strong></li> <li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.</li> <li>Experience with containerization (<strong>Docker, Kubernetes</strong>) for database services.</li> <li>Experience with <strong>AWS services</strong> relevant to database management.</li> <li>Experience in <strong>Python programming</strong>.</li> <li>Familiarity with Snowflake.</li> <li>Familiarity with OpenSearch.</li> <li>Familiarity with <strong>Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools such as Terraform</strong>.</li> <li>Familiarity with SaaS application development and cloud-native architectures.</li> <li>Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.</li> <li>Familiarity with Jira.</li> <li>Understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to facilitate data movement between systems.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.</li> </ul>
