Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Switchboard Operator I for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to perform routine and repetitive work in operating a PBX switchboard, primarily involving responsibility for accuracy and speed in placing and answering calls. Performs simple clerical work and maintains simple records involved in incoming and outgoing calls.
Essential Functions

Performs routine and repetitive work in operating a PBX switchboard, primarily involving responsibility for accuracy and speed in placing and answering calls.

Receives messages for department heads when they cannot be reached.

Directs visitors, parents, and salespersons to the proper departments.

Receives and sends messages on facility base radio to security mobile units and handsets for Engineer’s errand car mobile unit.

Performs simple clerical work.

Receives and sorts facility mail.

Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
