Neurodiagnostic Technologist - EEG/EMU

About the role

The CNP Technologist 1 works in the neurodiagnostic laboratories performing any one or more of the following procedures: Electroencephalography (EEG), Epilepsy Monitoring unit (EMU), Evoked Potentials (EP), Autonomic Reflex Screen (ARS), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS). The technologist is responsible for complete and accurate patient preparation, data acquisition, providing a safe testing environment and must demonstrate competent skills and knowledge in one or more of these areas. If applicable must also be able to work within the EEG/EMU on call schedule including but not limited to after hours, nights and weekends on a rotational basis.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Must achieve a National Registry certification in at least one of the neurodiagnostic procedures relative to the needs of the department within 2 years of hire. EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent, or Associates degree or higher, or an accredited school of END Technology. Must have working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
EXPERIENCE: One or more years in Electro Neuro Diagnostic procedure testing (this includes clinical experience while attending formal END education).
*May enter department as a trainee, with goals to be set up by the supervisor and achieved within a set time frame.
Good human relation and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and explain tests and provide a relaxing environment. Must be able to stand over 50% of the time, bending and kneeling routinely. Must be able to work with the arms above shoulder level. Must be able to lift more than 25 pounds. Must exercise proper caution to avoid potential exposure to: Chemical vapors – Heavy Metals – Ionizing Radiation – Laser – Microwaves – Infection Hazard – Skin contact with Chemicals, etc. Must work with Immunosuppressed patients.
