We have a current opening for a Heavy Equipment Operator for our projects in Santa Monica, CA.

Success in the position can be achieved through the following duties & responsibilities:
- Operate power-driven equipment
- Perform routine maintenance, monitoring, and minor repairs on machinery as required.
- Assist in the setup, assembly, and breakdown of equipment or production stations on-site.
- Ensure safe and compliant equipment operation under varying environmental and jobsite conditions.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, laborers, and electricians to support sequencing of work (especially on joint utility trench and excavation projects).
- Respond to changing site conditions including excavation depth adjustments, material delivery handling, or safety mitigation tasks.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment on construction or civil projects preferred.
- Completion of our current enrollment in an Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 (OE3) Apprenticeship Program highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license required; possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required based on project or equipment type.
- Prior experience in grading, trenching, site clearing, or utility installation is preferred.
- Familiarity with jobsite documentation, such as equipment checklists, maintenance logs, or work orders.
- Proficient in the safe operation of heavy construction equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, compactors, and trenchers.
- Working knowledge of jobsite safety protocols, particularly Cal/OSHA standards.
- Ability to interpret and follow verbal instructions, site markings, grade stakes, and basic construction layouts.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for performing daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and reporting of equipment malfunctions.
- Strong physical stamina and dexterity to operate machinery in various terrains and weather conditions.
