Develop security plans and Protective Force orders for the Technical Analysis and Planning Division in support of the Safeguards and Security Senior Directorate, which include security incident response plans that provide for the protection of DOE assets, classified material, government property, and personnel of national security interest at the Nevada National Security Site. Ensure complex customer requirements are integrated into operational Protective Force (PF) plans, procedures and orders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop security plans, ensuring they are developed in accordance with DOE Order requirements which include security incident response plans, protective force response plan, and project execution plans, that provide for the protection of DOE special nuclear material in storage/transit, classified material, government property, and personnel of national security interest at the Nevada National Security Sites.
  • Assist the Security Planning and Operations Supervisor in development of documents used to guide the development of the Site Security Plan, and response strategies, for routine operational security requirements based on new requirements, enhancements based on facility modification or expansion, and/or identified deficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain security strategies for Strategic Partnership Programs, as well as those reflected in emergency response plans (hazardous material spills, radiological accidents, fires, general evacuation) that address new requirements, correct identified vulnerabilities or deficiencies, and temporary protection requirements.
  • Take primary responsibility or assist in a secondary role with Lock and Key Control Officer duties and assists Security Operations with tasks, as needed.
  • Interface with NNSS contractor security personnel supporting required joint ventures such as the Technical Analysis when developing protection strategies (e.g., SIRPs, performance tests, etc.) and the planning phase of Strategic Partnership Programs. Planning encompasses development and implementation of responses to security incidents, attacks, hazardous material accidents, radiological accidents, fires, and other general emergencies.
  • Represent the Technical Analysis and Planning Division at meetings and consultations with customer representatives, governmental security agencies, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Bachelor's degree in field related to the position or equivalent training and experience plus a minimum of 5 years of progressive related experience.
  • Able to apply knowledge of principles, concepts and theory related to the position to address issues and define and resolve problems.
  • Able to exercise considerable discretion and judgment in performing work and conducting evaluations of process effectiveness.
  • Able to utilize initiative and possess ability to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and compose reports.
  • Able to prioritize and schedule multiple activities in the most efficient manner and meet required deadlines.
