We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Program Quality Lead (PQLs) at our Tucson, AZ location. The candidate will be responsible for promoting and executing a thorough quality mindset, practices, knowledge sharing, and collaboration. This individual will drive continuous improvements to quality metrics such as CORS (Cost of Rework and Scrap) and OOF (Out Of Flow).

You will be the primary Quality Representative for the customers and suppliers, ensuring the effective implementation of all the Quality and Mission Assurance requirements of the program, and providing oversight and coordination to supplier quality supporting program requirements. This is a program that is expecting exponential production growth.

You will interface and collaborate with a matrixed team of employees within the Quality organization and all other functions. This program will face challenges consistent with full rate production, requiring the PQL to utilize advanced management skills to ensure all issues/challenges are effectively and efficiently driven to closure.

This position is onsite.


What You Will Do:

  • Be the prime Quality Assurance interface with the program, customers, and supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), responsible for guidance, leadership, and support on all matters, including resourcing, technical quality and financial performance, and compliance with Raytheon procedures and contractual requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvements to Quality metrics.
  • Closely interface with external and internal customers and key partners to establishing effective relationships.
  • Must have the ability to manage and impact multiple levels of stakeholders, as it is vital to the results of this role.
  • You will be responsible for;
    • The quality of delivered products and services to our customers, management of risks, uncertainties and opportunities, leadership in resolution of customer expectations and relationships related to Mission Assurance and Quality.
    • Developing and implementing strategic and tactical Mission Assurance plans that will literally affect the program’s implementation and impact.
    • Improving processes or systems using significant conceptualization, reasoning, and interpretation skills.
  • Assuring quality requirements, planning, and consistency for program proposals and ROMs.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. 
  • Minimum eight (8) years documented engineering experience within the defense, aerospace, or commercial industry.
  • Working experience with ISO9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Working experience in both production and design phases of a program – with documented experience in a related production discipline in operations, engineering, or quality.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Minimum eight years of customer interface management experience (i.e. acquisitioned customers, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
  • Working experience implementing AS9145, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes at the supply base.
  • Working experience with performance to cost, schedule, and technical performance - including familiarity with Cost Accounting Methodologies (Earned Value Management (EVM)).
