Community Retail Pharmacy Technician Intern PRN

Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Community Retail Pharmacy Technician Intern (PRN) to join our team at 1700 Nicholasville Rd, Lexington, KY.

• Greets health care providers and patients, answering questions and referring drug information calls to a pharmacist.
• Performs medication inquiries on patient profiles.
• Works on cost containment of compounded sterile products.
• Delivers medication accurately and timely to appropriate units.
• Fills stock orders, inpatient and outpatient orders.
• Packages and labels medication per department guidelines.
• Performs station inspections, orders, checks in, and stocks medications.
• Restocks returned medication and emergency boxes and monitors waste.
• Orders necessary supplies to maintain appropriate inventory.
• Prepares non-sterile compounding in accordance with USP 795.
• Handles controlled substances following pharmacy policies.
• Performs necessary calculations accurately.
• Familiarity with medication formulary and standard abbreviations.
• Prepares sterile compounds (hazardous and non-hazardous) in accordance with guidelines and regulations.
• Identifies stock needed for compounding sterile products, orders supplies, and maintains inventory.
• Trains new staff.
• Performs environmental testing of the sterile compounding environment.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy (KY hospitals), within 30 days of hire date if you are a new registrant. If previously registered, you must have registration upon hire.
