Senior Packaging Engineer - 1099

We provide “hydration for the human race” by building cutting-edge Active Hydration™ systems for active people doing active things. 
Born in Motorsports & Powersports, our products are now relied on by winning NASCAR, IndyCar, Trophy Truck, and other professional racing teams.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Packaging Engineer to join our team on a 1099 contract basis to lead the development of innovative and sustainable packaging solutions for our cutting-edge consumer electronic product. This role will focus on balancing aesthetics, functionality, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. 

What You Own:

• Packaging Design and Development: 
• Lead the end-to-end design and development of packaging for consumer electronic products, including structural design, material selection, and prototyping. 
• Ensure packaging aligns with the product’s branding, user experience goals, and protective requirements. 


• Sustainability and Cost Optimization: 
• Identify opportunities for using sustainable materials and reducing packaging waste. 
• Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness without compromising quality or functionality. 


• Testing and Validation: 
• Conduct performance tests to ensure packaging meets regulatory, safety, and durability standards (e.g., drop tests, vibration tests, temperature resistance). 
• Iterate designs based on testing results and feedback. 


• Supplier Coordination: 
• Collaborate with suppliers to source materials and manage production timelines. 
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and negotiate terms to ensure quality and delivery. 


• Compliance and Documentation: 
• Ensure packaging meets all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements. 
• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including CAD drawings, specifications, and testing reports. 


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: 
• Work closely with product design, marketing, and manufacturing teams to integrate packaging solutions seamlessly into the production process. 
• Communicate updates and recommendations to stakeholders effectively. 

What You Bring:

• Education: 
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field or relative years of experience. 


• Experience: 
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in packaging engineering, preferably with consumer electronic products. 
• Proven track record of designing innovative and sustainable packaging solutions. 


• Technical Skills: 
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and packaging-specific tools. 
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards. 


• Preferred Qualifications: 
• Experience with global regulatory compliance standards for consumer packaging. 
• Familiarity with packaging sustainability certifications (e.g., FSC, ISO 18601).
