Medical Social Worker Part-Time

The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking a Part-Time Medical Social Worker for our Pediatric Specialty Hospital.  This position works three 8 hour shifts per week, off on weekends.  

Our Social Work team provides social services to the Pediatric Specialty Hospital patients and their families based on an individualized assessment of the social, psychological, and economic needs. They assist families of hospitalized patients with supports and resources throughout hospitalization with the goal of a safe discharge home and also serve patients and families in Child's Way, our daycare center for medically fragile children, on an as-needed basis.

Requirements

• Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through the completion of a Masters Degree in Social Work
• Minimum of two years of social work experience required to have acquired and learned how to apply social work skills and will ensure familiarity with local agencies and facilities engaged in, or affiliated with, social services
• Maintains current certification as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
• Act 33 and 34 Clearance.
• Capacity to foresee potential problems, and alleviate them by utilizing available resources and providing appropriate counseling skills
• Interpersonal skills necessary to assess patient/family needs, occasionally provide social and psychological counseling to patients and families, interact with all levels of hospital personnel, and communicate/cooperate with numerous outside agencies
