Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – Technical Manager

About the Role

Culmen International is looking for a MLS Technical Manager to support a USAMRIID program at Fort Detrick, MD.

 

The MLS Technical Manager supervises medical lab personnel, develops SOPs, and ensures high-quality diagnostic and research testing using microbiological, serological, and molecular methods.

 

What You’ll Do in Your New Role

 

• Oversee daily lab operations and clinical assay implementation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, etc.).
• Train staff and review QA/QC records.
• Troubleshoot lab instrumentation and methodologies.
• Support R&D efforts with diagnostic assay development.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, microbiology, or equivalent.
• 5+ years in clinical or diagnostic laboratory settings.
• Skilled in microbiological and molecular diagnostic techniques.
• Leadership and training capabilities.
• Quality management and regulatory knowledge.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• MLS (ASCP) Certification required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.
