Position Summary:

The Sr. Manager Port Captain is responsible for providing day-to-day Port support to the fleet and corporate stakeholders. The position overseas the marine aspect of Port and Deployment vetting. This role is based in our Miami office, and reports to the Brand Fleet Captain.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:    

• Coordinate on behalf of RCI Marine Operations with the following internal stakeholders on an as needed basis (not exhaustive list): 
  • Port Operations
  • Deployment
  • Destination Development
  • Private Destinations
  • Hotel Operations
  • Supply Chain
  • Energy Management/Fuel Team
• Marine Ops Point of contact for any Marine Infrastructure issues in existing ports of call or turnaround ports including pilotage, tug service, adequate depth and docking space, air draft clearance, landing stations for tendering, gangway arrangements, bollards, fenders, fresh water supply, environmental issues, etc.
• Maintain detailed and up-to-date information for each port including but not limited to: Charts, Bathymetric information, Fenders, Bollards, mooring analysis, navigation marks, photos, passage plans and other infrastructure etc.
• Collect, maintain and analyze data for each visited and expected ports of call (future itineraries) confirming alignment with ship particulars and company and regulatory requirements.
• Promote data-driven processes that clearly communicate and document port information to be used for the safe transit and operation of the company’s vessels.
• Collect, analyze, share and act on any concerns addressed from the fleet in regard to port transits and port operations. Conduct Port evaluations.
• Build relationships with port officials and pilot organizations.
• Maintain up-to-date files of all ship particulars and facilitate correspondence and requests from port officials as needed.
• Responsible for overseeing the Port vetting process including keeping the Vetting system and procedures current and up to date. Ensure all required information and data is collected and analyzed as it is applicable to port vetting.
• Brand point of contact for deployment vetting. Work closely with the deployment and Port operations teams to verify and approve future deployment, re-deployment and deployment changes.
• Oversee itinerary and energy efficiencies that establish effective selection of vessels for each developed itinerary through detailed leg analysis and comparison of the voyage requirements related to speed, squat, depth, fuel/Nm, hotel load and the vessel’s energy/power curves.
• Assist with port simulations planning and logistics as well as completing risk assessments as needed as part of the port evaluations.
