Financial Controller Assistant Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Financial Controller Assistant for our two hotels in Florida (Orlando and Miami). As a Financial Controller Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of both hotels by assisting in financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with local and Group financial regulations and standards. As part of your role, you will report directly to the Senior Financial Controller in our New York office.

The candidate must have a previous hands-on finance experience or formal finance education, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (namely Microsoft Excel), and a passion for hospitality. The candidate must have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines. The candidate must be highly organized and able to effectively collaborate with other departments and stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, report, and analysis of financial reports, including the Group’s Profit and loss statement for both hotels;
  • Review of all balance sheet and profit and loss accounts and purpose adjustments/reclassifications identified as needed;
  • Prepare investment orders for CAPEX and create Fixed asset records in our system;
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather relevant information for budgeting and financial reporting purposes;
  • Monitor and analyze expenses for both hotels, identifying cost-saving opportunities, missing costs/revenues, and making recommendations for cost control measures;
  • Organize and maintain the financial records and ensure accuracy;
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures;
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies and other stakeholders;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards, including tax regulations and internal policies;
  • Report sales tax monthly, reconcile all tax accounts, and guarantee that all taxes are paid on time (including Property taxes);
  • Ensure the execution of all monthly tasks, such as posting hospitality statistics, monitoring clients' and suppliers’ balances, posting accruals and deferrals, and guaranteeing that the P&L is reported on time and is complete and accurate;
  • Be responsible for all cash transactions for both hotels, as it relates to:

1) collecting and counting all cash drops,

2) preparing/making bank deposits,

3) copying all checks and depositing them, 4) reporting and validating petty cash expenses;

  • Review payroll journals and post payroll on the financial system;
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned, needed, or directed by management or supervisor.

Requirements

  • Job based in Orlando, Florida;
  • Work permit to work in USA;
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (mandatory);
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry;
  • Proficiency in English (mandatory);
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel tools (mandatory);
  • Prior experience with SAP (preferential);
  • Good understanding of accounting principles;
  • Strong organization skills;
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented;
  • Availability to travel (as often as needed to Miami or New York);
  • Ability to work in a multifunctional space;
  • Spanish speaking is a plus.
