Job Description
AbbVie’s Immunology R&D organization is expanding its Dermatology Discovery team at the Cambridge Research Center in Cambridge, MA. We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist/Scientist to join the 1Derm Team within the 1Immunology Department. Our team is focused on identifying new targets for the treatment of autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases through computational analysis of human disease tissue derived datasets and through the validation targets using in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches to make an impact on patient lives. This scientist will support the development of preclinical in vitro models for immune-mediated skin diseases with a focus on atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Candidates will be expected to be well-versed in in vitro model development for cellular assays.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and dedicated individual to join a team that validates targets. This position requires passion, attention to detail, prior hands-on experience, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and analyze ex-vivo human and animal tissues for disease-relevant endpoints. Candidates with knowledge of the following techniques will receive extra consideration: flow cytometry, PCR/gene analysis, protein/cytokine measures via ELISA/MSD, western blotting and methods applicable to other skin-related functional endpoints.
- Sterile cell culture (cell lines and primary cells)
- Prior hands-on experience with innate immune cells
- Monitors and operates specialized equipment such as flow cytometers, thermocyclers, real-time PCR instruments, cell counters, and microplate readers
