Specialist, Software Engineer:
This position will be on Licensing and Appointment applications team in Digital Pre Sales and New Business organization within IDS BSA. This role will support Agent Information Management Systems (AIMS) application. The role will be on JavaBeans line and will also support Licensing modernization effort which involves implementing a new SaaS platform PMACS.
The resource will work on application development (analysis, design, code, debug, document, test) and with full competency, be able to modify application programs from detailed specifications on the Agent Information Management Systems (AIMS) application. The candidate may also handle day-to-day application support requests (reviews and completes ServiceNow / Jira requests), participate in on call rotation, partner with business for defect and enhancement prioritization and other application support activities. This position is competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications programming activities.
The successful candidate for this position will have following skills:
Strong experience with programming in JAVA and API development
Knowledge of Oracle database, event streaming development and Kafka platform
Familiarity with Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, Informatica ETL process will be helpful
Other required technical skills include: XML, GitHub, UAC scheduler, knowledge with batch processing
Experience with monitoring tools such as New Relic and Splunk
Familiarity with code migration and deployment including WebSphere Application Servers, Nexus, UCD deployment, CI/CD pipeline and usage of GitHub
Exceptional trouble shooting skills and ability to research, analyze and provide solutions for complex technical issues
Candidate should have strong communication skills, be able to work well with others and be able to multi-task well
Ability to learn on the fly and comprehend how application code interacts with infrastructure and database layers and ability to consult with various application development teams
Identify and drive continuous improvement and capability uplift across the team and department
Strong team player with People Oriented skills
This role will be filled in a hybrid capacity, with in-office collaboration in our Columbus, OH office 2 days per week.
This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.
