Wire EDM Machinist

Position Overview:
Qualdoc is looking for a skilled Wire EDM Machinist to join our team. This role involves setting up, operating, and troubleshooting Wire EDM machines to produce high-precision components. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and hands-on Wire EDM experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC Wire EDM machines to manufacture precision parts.
• Safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials.
• Recognize and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to execute work instructions.
• Determine and use the correct tools for each job.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.) to ensure accuracy.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on machinery.
• Follow job travelers and document work progress.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to company policies and procedures.
• Work overtime as required, including evenings and weekends.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate work.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of Wire EDM processes, setup, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• 3–5 years of Wire EDM machining experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
• Basic mathematical skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written).
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Must have basic machinist tools.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
• Ability to move products using an overhead crane.
• Good vision is required, including close, distance, color, and depth perception.
• Some computer use is required for documentation and job tracking.

Work Environment

• Moderate to high noise levels due to machine operations.
• Shop environment with safety protocols in place.
